My passion for creating cool stuff was pretty much born the same day I was... or at least the day I became sentient, spending much of my childhood making

embarrassing skits, gaming videos, homemade animations, and even hosting my own radio shows as a teenager.

As I got older,  turning a lifelong passion of creating fun and interesting media into my full-time job felt like a no-brainer. I love bringing ideas to life, working with a large range of formats and styles, embracing variety and finding ways to overcome any hurdles along the way. From making documentaries and editing music videos, to designing LP sleeves and launching clothing lines, I just love to make stuff!

Whoever created the split screen plugin for Windows Movie Maker in 2007 has NO idea the beast they awoke in me.

Despite upgrading to Sony Vegas during teenage years of cringeworthy gaming videos, it was the big step up to Adobe's Premier Pro that opened many doors for my editing journey ahead. Determined to climb the steep learning curve, I soon began skilled enough to jump from editing my own projects to working for others.

During the last 8+ years, I've learned that editing isn't just chopping up content; it's also sourcing hundreds of assets, creating custom graphics, proofing info, responding to feedback, making difficult decisions, working to important deadlines, overcoming obstacles, fixing things outside of your control, learning new techniques,

following platform rules, adapting to

different formats, implementing your

own creative direction, and SO much more.

Knowing what sort of content is worth pouring hours of hard work and effort into can make a huge difference. While it can sometimes be fun to throw things at the forever ambiguous algorithm and see what sticks, time is often money, and a string of misses can hurt you down the line too!

Understanding the platforms my work is released onto is a huge help towards a successful project. Being up to date with fun references a specific YouTube audience would appreciate can help boost engagement such as likes and comments - e.g. 90s nostalgia for a millennial crowd. Reading feedback from viewers and seeing what recent content did better than others has nothing to do with editing, but inspires what choices I make next!

Reading the room is also important. TikTok usually has to be fast paced and engaging with lots of subtitling and quick hooks, but the same sort of editing would go down like a chocolate kettle on a 2-hour podcast...​​

After working behind the scenes on longform YouTube videos for years, I began dipping my foot into short form content for my own projects. Learning what did and didn't work well, I was inspired to help my YouTube clients breakthrough to both new and different audiences without having to change a thing. Being in charge of several TikTok and YT Shorts accounts, I soon learned the importance of timing, context, captioning, scheduling, analytics, and even keeping up to date with trends and viewer habits from my own scrolling time.

Growing pre-existing accounts by over 30% in the first month of planning, editing, and posting content for them, I'm now able to take something that already exists in other formats (podcasts, concerts, physical media) and turn them into engaging, snappy highlights for a whole other type of audience and platform.

A good editor knows how to make engaging content, but a great editor knows why, when and how to make it.
